Those that were not home during that time, we were able to put one in their room on the window, to greet them when they returned. If you drive by the hosipital you will see most the windows with the trees at night... it looks so neat. We also went to the in patient wards in the hosptial, with volunteers and some our children, it was a great blessing to everyone. including US!
1st set of delivery!

How did Trees for Troops come about? Our family had been looking to do something to honor and support the wounded the last several months, and it seems that with my husband being a full time Service Member, and a full time mother of 2 toddlers for me, it was hard to find a way that we could be a personal blessing as a family. There were already a few other programs in place, but didn't either need help or we couldn't match their schedules with ours.
Christmas is a special time of the year, and we thought we could share in that Joy with them.
So we thought putting a Tree in each soliders room would let them know that they were each though of this Christmas no matter what they were going through, or who they were away from. We wanted it to be personalized, and detailed... and all of the children's ornaments from all the local schools and the individuals who decorated them perfected that!
Everyone made these guys feel so special, and there is no way we could have done this alone! We also thought it would be a great way to get people out to see the ward and possibly be encouraged to boost moral on their own as well. We made some great new friends along the way, and I know that by seeing the faces of many of these soldiers as we went door to door it was all worth it!
We hope this encourages you to think about our local soldiers, ways you can be a blessing while they are here alone.
A meal, a ride to the bx, a dinner at your house, a day trip with your family, a gift card, phone card,or just coming down to hang out, play the Wii, a game of pool, ..... you can call the MTD for more details.Donations from several local School groups, Classes, Boys & Girls scouts worldwide, Squadrons, Churches, Clubs, Spouse Groups, local thrift shops, and individuals locally and stateside provided over 1,500 ornaments over 140 trees, and several hundred handmade Christmas cards, and Hall decorations this Christmas season!
